Maya Health Alliance | Wuqu' Kawoq

unlocking health care for those who need it most

We unite language, culture, and science to transform the health of Maya people in rural Guatemala.

Our Vision: Everyone — no matter where they were born or what language they speak — has access to the highest quality health care.

Community Based

At the center of all we do are Maya Community Health Workers, who understand our patients’ cultures and speak their languages.

Research Informed

We develop groundbreaking, practical solutions to close critical gaps in care. This ensures that money and resources are well-spent.

Women Powered

Investing women with power over their lives and bodies is at the core of our work. For that reason, more that 80% of our staff are women.

Since 2007, we have been advancing lasting changes in healthcare delivery in rural Guatemala so that high-quality care is within reach for everyone.

We provide comprehensive care in the communities where our patients live and in the Mayan languages that they are most comfortable speaking. Our program areas include child nutrition, women’s health, maternal-infant health, and chronic disease.
